AI Governance and Safe Use

Policy, privacy and risk frameworks that let your people move fast without exposing the business. Your staff use AI safely. Your board sleeps. We build practical AI use policy, data guardrails and risk frameworks aligned with Australian guidance, including the Australian Government's Guidance for AI Adoption and the Voluntary AI Safety Standard.

The problem

Banned or ungoverned. Neither is safe.

Most organisations are running AI on one of two bad settings. The first is a ban, which does not stop use. It pushes it into the shadows, onto personal phones and personal accounts, where nobody can see what data is going in or what decisions are coming out. The second is no governance at all, with staff using whatever tools they like and exposing data and decisions nobody is tracking.

Neither setting is safe, and neither is defensible to a board or a regulator. Good governance is not a brake. It is what makes speed possible: when people know the rules and trust the guardrails, they use the tools in the open, and the business stays protected while they move.

What we do

Governance that works in practice, not just on paper.

  • Practical AI use policy people can actually follow.
  • Data privacy and security guardrails that stop sensitive information leaving the building.
  • Risk and ethics frameworks proportionate to your sector. A bank and a builder do not need the same controls.
  • Alignment with Australian guidance, including the Australian Government's Guidance for AI Adoption and the Voluntary AI Safety Standard.
What you get

A position you can defend.

  • Clear rules, so nobody has to guess what is allowed.
  • Safe defaults, so the easy option is also the safe one.
  • An auditable position you can put in front of a board or a regulator.
  • A workforce that knows what good use looks like.
Proof

We built the governance frameworks at Xenith Consulting during an enterprise-wide AI rollout, so safety and adoption were designed together rather than bolted on afterwards.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

We already blocked the tools. Is that safe?

No. Blocking pushes use into the shadows. The people who find AI useful keep using it on personal phones and personal accounts, where you have no visibility and no control over what data leaves the organisation. Governed access is safer than prohibition: approved tools, clear rules and safe defaults give you oversight that a ban never will.

Do you cover government requirements?

Yes, including federal AI governance protocols. We align policy, privacy and risk frameworks with Australian guidance, including the Australian Government's Guidance for AI Adoption and the Voluntary AI Safety Standard, and we scope the controls to the requirements your sector answers to.

How does this fit with adoption?

Governance and adoption are designed together, so safety never becomes the excuse for stalling. The governance work defines what good use looks like, and the adoption work gets people doing it every day. Run separately, one always ends up blocking the other. We do not let that happen.
